Ricci’s Pizza- A family restaurant!

Hi all, RJ checking in.

Last weekend was my brother’s birthday but my sister and her husband couldn’t join as they were in Jamaica so we did a low-key dinner when they came home.  We wanted to try something new, something local, and simply something good.

A friend suggested Ricci’s Pizza in Woodbridge so we went there.  Ricci’s is owned and operated by 4 siblings (cute, just like us) and has been in business for 31 years.  This December is thier 32nd Anniversary.  Food for thought: there’s something that needs to be said about a restaurant in business for that long! It could be a variety of things such as the food quality, the price, the “family” feel, the staff and in this case it was all!

FYI- below are all 4 siblings on the napkin dispensers! How cute is that?

Below are my favourite items off thier menu!

Classic Ceasar Salad

Tasty: 4 out 5
Filling: Appetizer/side salad portion
Price: $9.00

Pasta- Fettecuni in a Rose Sauce with Sausage

Tasty: 3.5 out of 5
Filling: 5 out of 5
Price: $9+$3+$3 (pasta, sauce, protein)
Comments: What I like about their pasta’s is that you choose your pasta and sauce separately, then you can choose to add the protein as well.  Its a “build your own pasta”.  The portion size is amazing, I would say its enough for two people.

Ricci’s Famous Panzerotti

Tasty: 4.5 out of 5
Filling: 5 out of 5
Price:$10+.50+$3 (basic panzerotti, each topping, meat or tomato sauce)
Comments: This hit home!  Deep fried goodness.  This was a massive dish (that could be shared) but I think what really made this dish was the side tomato sauce we ordered.  It was so rich in flavour and spicy.  Side note: a friend of mine who grew up in Woodbridge used to come here 20 years ago and told me that they were known for their Panzerotti’s and it was a “must try” on the menu.

Build your own 14′ Pizza

Tasty: 4 out of 5
Filling: 5 out of 5
Price: $14.50+$3+ (basic pizza + 4 toppings)
Comments: Im a big fan of build your own pizza.  My family and I LOVE spicy food so we added jalapeño peppers.  For me, I think the cheese made it.  Just enough sauce and fresh vegetables.

The Atmosphere and Staff

As soon as you walk in, you can place your order and take a seat. Once your order is ready, the staff will call your name and bring the food over.  One of the owners, Laura, was working the front cash while I was ordering.  I saw customers walk over to her and talk to her as if they had known her for years.  Actually, an older gentlemen told me that Laura was his girlfriend from 30 years ago (while he was holding his wife’s hand).  Of course he was kidding but it goes to show that Ricci’s has a loyal customer base that considers the restaurant their a place they can call home too and I loved that.

In Summary
The fact that I went with my four siblings to a restaurant that is owned and operated by 4 siblings kind of felt like home.  I loved that the staff knew their customer’s by first name and a bit about their life.  Customer service for me is equally as important as the food because if the food is great and the customer service is horrible, I would not go back.  Ricci’s staff was so friendly and welcoming, not to mention, the food was on point.  I understand why their Panzerotti’s are known even after all these years. I would give Ricci’s Pizza 4 Frequent Flyer Foodie Points out of 5!
